Feb 16, 2012 - Elks Contribution For FDL Police Vest

Picture
Representatives of Fond du Lac Elks Lodge #57 will present a check for $1,000 to Police Chief Bill Lamb this afternoon for the purchase of a  tactical ballistic vest for officers. The donation will take place at the Police Department at 1 p.m.

After the March 20th, 2011, tragedy in which a gunman took  the life of Fond du Lac Police Officer Craig Birkholz, the Department set out to obtain tactical ballistic vests for its officers-vests that would stop high caliber powered rifle rounds. Through the generous contributions, including the Elks Lodge, the Department has been able to purchase the vests.

The annual drive provides used and gently used coats to more than 1,700 children, teens and a few adults every year.

Members and guests are asked to please donate extra coats by dropping them in our Coats for Kids box in the mian lounge area.

As the donated coats are collected, they are cleaned, compliments of both Georgetown Cleaners located on West Johnson and South Main streets, and Model Cleaners located on Macy Street.

Jul 10, 2011 - Help Needed

Our Brother and Sister Elks from Lodge #501 need our Help.

Below is a excerpt of an article that appeared in USA Today describing what happened to this Lodge during the devastating tornado that hit their city.

Five members of the Joplin Lodge died and several others were injured when the tornado ripped the building from its foundation, Elks national president said.  "Our Lodge is just devastated "Smith Said "It’s just unbelievable"

The Elks, a fraternal organization known for its community service to veterans, sent word of the disaster to its 2.100 lodges around the country, said Smith. Supplies are pouring into the Lodge in Webb city that is serving as the coordination point, he said.  "We have feet on the ground in Joplin now. We’re driving supplies in", Smith said. "If the community is in need, we are ready to assist".  Smith also stated the Elks will rebuild the historic Lodge, founded in 1899.  "We’ll be back again".

They need our help. I am asking you to write a $10.00 check to the Elks Relief Fund address below.

Fond du Lac Elks Lodge 57 will sponsor its Flag Day celebration at 11 a.m. June 11 at the new Fond du Lac Credit Union located on Pioneer Road, said Elks Americanism Chairman Jerry Lauby.

At the event, Lodge 57 will honor local youth who participated in the Elks Americanism program, specifically the essay contest. The six local finalists in the essay contest have been invited to read their essays to those attending.

Matthew will be joined by Ali Ottery and Elizabeth Michels in Division 2 and Luke Ours, Nicole Jandre and Mitchell Wuest from Division 1.
